Once you have connected a printer to your PC or have added a new printer to your home network, you should normally be able to print right away. However, at times your printer might not able to get connected to the printer. This can occur if the cables are not connected securely or if the wireless printer is not receiving the signal.

Experts at dell support number states that if your printer is not connecting to the PC or is not sensing the PC then you should do the following trouble shooting steps such as:

  • Unplug all the cables between router, PC and the printer and try to connect them once again. Do not unplug the cables all of a sudden; instead properly switch off the devices and then unplug them. Now, wait for some time and see if the printer functions.
  • In case of wireless printer connection; at first try to establish a wired connection and then try to use the wireless connection. Make sure that there are no cordless phones or any electric gadgets in between printer, PC and the router as this can cause disturbance to the wireless signal.
  • In addition to all these make sure that the printer driver has been installed properly. Most printers need driver software to work correctly. If you have upgraded from one version of to another, recently, it is possible that the current printer driver is for the prior version. If you have had viruses, power outages, or other computer problems, it is likely that the drivers have become impaired. So, download and install the latest driver for your printer in order to resolve these types of issues.
  • Make sure that the printer that you are using is listed; if it is not listed, add the name of the printer and select the same and find out if it works.
  • Make sure that there are no configuration problems or a physical issue as this can also cause a printer to become unresponsive. Check if the printer has the paper and that the paper tray is closed and the printer can proceed to print.  In addition, make sure that the ink cartridge has not dried out and is in a perfect condition.
  • Paper jam can also prevent your printer from connecting. You can remove the jammed paper manually by gently pulling the paper with both hands.  You can contact technicians at dell support number if you are unable to remove the jammed paper.
  • Cancel all the pending documents that are there in the queue and then try to send the print job once again. See if this works, if the problem still persists, reach the specialists at dell printer support phone number so that they can do the needful for you.

Apart from all these make sure that your printer driver and the printer device is compatible with the PC. All these will ideally help your printer to connect to the PC; otherwise contact on dell printer support phone number to find a solution.
